How do I generate a budget through Wave?
Hi @Hanah. There's no budgeting feature within Wave. You'll have to keep track of your budget using other means.
What is the reasoning for this decision? Budgeting is such an essential accounting tool important to all organizations and businesses. If there was a Google Sheets integration to dump the chart of accounts and total transactions for a given time period into a spreadsheet, at least we could then easily type in the budget numbers and a variance calculation without having to create it by hand.
However, implementing this feature in Wave seems like it should be easy. You already have a "Chart of Accounts" tool, so within that page or a new Budget page, we are simply asking to define the fiscal year dates and the amount planned to spend for each account. That's a simple bit of data added to a column of an existing table, from which you can now create a "Budget Variance" report. This would do so much for everyone!
